Aetos Orcia Organic Sangiovese Riserva DOC 2016
Red wine made from 100% biological Sangiovese grapes, entirely produced according to the principles of the biodynamic agriculture. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented using special French cement vats. After the malolactic fermentation in steel vats, the refinement takes place in small oak and tonnaux barrels for 24 months and then in the bottle for a further six months. In total the refinement amounts to at least 30 months.
The vintage 2016 has been characterised by a rainy and rather cool spring, followed by a very sunny summer with warm temperatures. The vines were therefore able to grow perfectly with no major problems. The combination of sun and cool winds (from Greece and the north) at the end of the summer allowed the Sangiovese grapes to ripe to perfection and in good quantity.
The wine has the typical ruby red, tendency to garnet red colour of a Sangiovese. It has an intense bouquet characterized by floral notes, red fruit (sour cherry) and an earthy note. Its storage in wooden barrels gives this wine sweet, spicy notes, which integrate well with the aroma. In the mouth, its intensive and pleasant, while on the palate it is fresh and full bodied with medium silky tannins. The finish is long, flowery and well rounded.
